Gene editing promises great results in preventing an undesirable trait in foods and animals from being expressed. In fact, the gene is removed from the genome. This procedure is different than the more traditional GMOs currently on the market that introduce foreign genes that raise the risk of producing a foreign protein into the body.  Interesting on how the public will react and if these foods will require labeling.

Another concern is how they will be regulated since the USDA and the FDA appear to have differing opinions on this issue.
